Sharp and Flat Family Fomula in Natural Major Key
As we know in music theory, we have to memorize all those complicated keys, key signature.
For Example:
What is the Key with 6b(six flat). And what are those note have to be falt?
and in the theory some music teacher will ask the student to count 5 for the #(sharps) and count 4 for the b(flats).
Example:#(sharps)
C D E F G
1 2 3 4 5
then G major have one sharp in the key.
G A B C D
1 2 3 4 5
then D major have two sharps in the key.
b(flats).
C D E F
1 2 3 4
then F major have one flat in the key
F G A B
1 2 3 4
then Bb major have two flats in the key
But for these ideal . We still don't know what are the real name of the key. We will confuse the Bb major or B major,F# major or F major... and so on.
And when we find out how many sharps or flats in the key. but we still don't know what's those shaps are.
Example:
We know six flats is Gb major. But we still don't know what are those flats are.
Because of these I am making out a Fomula for those who learn music theory . so that they can be very eazy to find out the answer that I asked.
This is the Fomula for natural major:
Sharp: C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat : C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
What should I memorize?
you no need to memorize anythings but what you should know is some basic of the music theory for checking out the fomula.
These are the things that you have to understand
1.You must understand music is using 7 alphabet .
We are using the "A" until "G" then keep go on.after the "G" then is "A" agian.
2.In music we always stard from the "C" major. is because in C mojor we don't have sharp and flat.
3.G major have one sharp that's F# and F major have one flat and that's Bb.
begining to write out the Sharp Fomula step by step.
as I just said we stard up the C because C major is no shanrp and no flat
C
in the alphabet rules after C is D. but here we have to make a space then write the D after C.
C _ D
after the D is E. so same here.
C _ D _ E
after E is F
C _ D _ E _ F
after F is G. but G major as we know there a sharp. so this time G have to write it after C. so it will be like this.
C G D _ E _ F
then keep go on after G is back to the A as I just mation.
C G D A E _ F
then after A is B
C G D A E B F
and after B is C agian,so it will be
C G D A E B F C
now we have to double check for the alphabet we use
C G D A E B F C
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
don't forget we repeat the C.so is all in 7.
now we have to add the #(sharp) after the F, don't ask why, just follow the rules. so it will becoming
C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
so this is the jajor key with sharp.
you can very eazy to know the answer that I ask before
C major have no sharp
G major have 1 sharp
D major have 2 sharps
A major have 3 sharps
E major have 4 sharps
B major have 5 sharps
F# major have 6 sharps
C# major have 7 sharps
then what are those sharps? of those major keys?
now let me show you how.
as we know
C major have no sharp
so, there's no sharp here
G major have 1 sharp
look at the Fomula what's the 1st alphabet have sharp? is F.
so the G major have one F# in the key
and so on
D major have 2 sharps
as we know one is F#...... then beside the F# in the Fomula is C#.
so the D major have F# and C#.
A major have 3 sharps
as we know F# and C#....... But after the C# there's no more alphabet. so go to other C then we can see is G.
so the A major have F# ,C# and G#.
E major have 4 sharps
as we know F#,C#,and G#......look at the Fomula. after G is D.
so the E major have F#,C# ,G# and D#
B major have 5 sharps
as so on
B major have F#,C#,G#,D# and A# (as fomula show)
F# major have 6 sharps
F# major have F#,C#, G#,D#,A# and E# (because F have sharp sothat this major is know as F# major not F major)
C# major have 7 sharps
C# major have F#,C#, G#,D#,A#,E# and the last one B#.
as the Fomula we can very eazy to find out all answer that I asked.
C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
C major have no sharp
G major have 1 sharp (F#)
D major have 2 sharps(F#,C#)
A major have 3 sharps(F#,C#,G#)
E major have 4 sharps(F#,C#,G#,D#)
B major have 5 sharps(F#,C#,G#,D#,A#)
F# major have 6 sharps(F#,C#,G#,D#,A#,E#)
C# major have 7 sharps(F#,C#,G#,D#,A#,E#,B#)
as above I am showing how we write out the "sharp family". and at below I have to show you how to write out the flat family.
as we know
the sharp family fomula are
C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
sothat the flat family fomula is
C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
as we see carefully you will know how the falt family done.
the flat family actually is the backward of the sharp family
Examples,
sharp family
<--------
C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
then we will have
C# F# B E A D G C
as we know the sharp family have two alphabet have #(sharp), that's F# and C#.
so now we have to flat all the alphabet make them to become flat family.
then it will be like this
C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
then write down the zero until seven at the below
C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
the Flat family have show above
same as the sharp family.
as above you will know
C major have no sharp
F major have 1 sharp (Bb)
Bb major have 2 sharps(Bb,Eb)
Eb major have 3 sharps(Bb,Eb,Ab)
Ab major have 4 sharps(Bb,Eb,Ab,Db)
Db major have 5 sharps(Bb,Eb,Ab,Db,Gb)
Gb major have 6 sharps(Bb,Eb,Ab,Db,Gb,Cb)
Cb major have 7 sharps(Bb,Eb,A,Db,Gb,Cb,Fb)
*as above a littel things different.
we have to stard from the Bb coz that the 1st alphabet show flat. then all will be the same until we finish the Cb.. then we have to go back to the F
then the whole sharp and flat family fomula in natural major key come out will be like this:
Sharp: C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat : C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
from this fomula we also find out a fomula as below
C# major have 7 #, C major have no # and no b,Cb major have 7 b
G major have 1 #, Gb major have 6 b
D major have 2 #, Db major have 5 b
A major have 3 #, Ab major have 4 b
E major have 4 #, Eb major have 3 b
B major have 5 #, Bb major have 2 b
F# major have 6#,F major have 1b
after you know the
sharp and flat family fomula in natural major key
you will ask:"what about the minor key?"
is all the same
just a littel change you have to know. and you have know this. this fomula is only showing you that the NATURAL MINOR KEY.
we know in the music the relative of between major key and the minor key.
from Major key we have to count 3 alphabet backward. Then that will be the Minor key.
Example:
so if C major
C B A
1 2 3
then C major relative minor is "A minor"
So,from the natural major key fomula we know
Sharp: C G D A E B F# C#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat : C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Cb
then all count 3 alphabet backward then it will becoming:
Sharp: a e b f c g d a
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat : a d g c f b e a
remember what I have told you after f have to be sharp.
so it will become like below:
Sharp: a e b f# c# g# d# a#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
flat family of natural minor is the same with natural majoy
a e b f# c# g# d# a#
<-----------
then you will have as below
Flat : a d g c f b e a
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
now we have flat all the alphabet then it will become like below
Flat : a d g c f b(flat) e(flat) a(flat)
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
so,the sharp ,flat family fomula in minor key are
Sharp: a e b f# c# g# d# a#
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Flat : a d g c f b(b) e(b) a(b)
this is the fomula of music I create. hope it will help you a lot.
